1. About Us

Welcome to WASHBOLT, a UK-based, family-run supplier of fixings, fasteners and specialist hardware.

Our website, www.washbolt.com, is operated by WASHBOLT, a UK sole-trader business.

We supply products to both individual consumers and trade customers.

By placing an order through our website, you agree to these Terms of Service, subject to your statutory rights.

2. Products and Descriptions

We make every reasonable effort to ensure product descriptions, photographs, specifications and prices are accurate.

Product images are provided for identification and illustration. Minor differences in colour or appearance may occur.

Customers should check product dimensions, materials, finishes, quantities and suitability before ordering.

If you require clarification about a product, please contact us before purchasing.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights if goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet applicable legal requirements.

3. Orders and Acceptance

Placing an order constitutes an offer to purchase the selected goods.

An automated order acknowledgement confirms that we have received your order but does not necessarily mean it has been accepted.

An order is accepted when we confirm dispatch, unless we expressly confirm acceptance earlier.

We reserve the right to decline an order where reasonably necessary, including where products are unavailable, payment cannot be authorised or an obvious pricing error has occurred.

If payment has already been taken for an order we cannot fulfil, we will issue a refund without undue delay.

We may contact you if an order requires clarification.

4. Prices, VAT and Payment

All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP).

WASHBOLT is VAT registered. Product prices may be displayed both including and excluding VAT.

Where prices are displayed excluding VAT, applicable VAT will be added and clearly shown before the customer confirms payment.

The full order total, including applicable taxes and delivery charges, will be presented before checkout is completed.

We reserve the right to change prices without notice. Changes will not affect orders already accepted.

Payment must be completed using one of the payment methods available at checkout.

Any promotional discounts are subject to the conditions stated with the relevant offer.

5. Delivery and Shipping

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–2 working days, subject to stock availability.

Our standard UK delivery arrangements are:

  • Qualifying orders over £20 excluding VAT: Free UK standard delivery.

  • Orders below £20 excluding VAT: £6.50 standard delivery charge.

Delivery eligibility is calculated using the applicable order value after discounts, excluding VAT.

The delivery charge and available delivery services will be confirmed at checkout. Any additional services or location-specific restrictions will be displayed where applicable.

Delivery times are estimates unless a specific delivery date or service has been expressly agreed.

Where no delivery timeframe has been agreed, consumer orders will be delivered without undue delay and normally within 30 days of the contract being made, as required by law.

We are not responsible for delays outside our reasonable control, but this does not affect our legal obligations or customers' statutory rights.

For consumer orders, responsibility for the goods normally passes to the customer when the goods are delivered into their physical possession or to a person identified by them to receive the goods, subject to applicable law.

If an order is lost or damaged in transit, please contact us so that we can investigate and provide the appropriate resolution.

Further information is available in our Shipping Policy.

6. Returns, Refunds and Cancellations

We want customers to be satisfied with their purchases.

Consumers purchasing online generally have the right to cancel an eligible order within 14 days of receiving their goods, without providing a reason.

Following cancellation, customers normally have a further 14 days to return the goods.

For change-of-mind returns, customers are responsible for return postage where permitted by law.

For eligible cancellations of an entire order, we will refund the purchase price and applicable original standard delivery charges in accordance with consumer law.

If goods are faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described, we will provide the appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable consumer legislation, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Consumers generally have a 30-day short-term right to reject faulty goods, subject to the applicable legal conditions. Other statutory remedies may remain available beyond this period.

Some goods made to a customer's specifications or clearly personalised may be exempt from the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right.

Business customers do not generally have the statutory consumer cancellation right. Change-of-mind returns for business purchases require prior agreement.

For full details, including return instructions, refund timescales and the model cancellation form, please refer to our Returns & Refunds Policy, available on our website.

Nothing in these Terms of Service affects your statutory rights.

7. Trade and Business Purchases

WASHBOLT welcomes orders from businesses, tradespeople and other commercial customers.

Where goods are purchased wholly or mainly for business purposes, certain consumer-specific legal protections, including the statutory 14-day cancellation right, will not generally apply.

Business customers are responsible for checking that products meet their intended specifications and requirements.

Any special purchasing arrangements, bulk orders or individually negotiated terms must be agreed with WASHBOLT.

Nothing in this section excludes any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Product Suitability and Use

Our products include fixings, fasteners, hooks, fittings and other hardware intended for a variety of applications.

Customers should ensure that products are suitable for their intended use, taking account of relevant dimensions, materials, load requirements, installation methods and environmental conditions.

Where a product has specific technical limitations, these should be followed.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, products should not be assumed suitable for safety-critical, structural or load-bearing applications.

If you are unsure about a product's suitability, please contact us before ordering or seek advice from an appropriately qualified professional.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights concerning product quality, description or fitness for a particular purpose made known to us.

9. Website Availability and Accuracy

We aim to keep our website accurate, secure and available.

However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or that all website content will always be free from technical errors.

We may update product information, pricing, availability and website content where reasonably necessary.

We reserve the right to suspend or restrict access to the website for maintenance, security or operational reasons.

Any changes will not affect orders already accepted or rights that have already arisen.

10. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the WASHBOLT name, branding, website text, original product photographs and other original website content belong to WASHBOLT or are used with permission.

You may browse and use our website for personal or legitimate purchasing purposes.

You must not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit our original content without permission, except where permitted by law.

Product names and trademarks belonging to third parties remain the property of their respective owners.

11. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms of Service excludes or limits liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence.

  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

  • Breach of statutory consumer rights.

  • Any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

For consumer customers, we are responsible for losses caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill where those losses are foreseeable, subject to applicable law.

For business customers, we will not be liable for indirect or consequential commercial losses, including loss of profit, revenue or business opportunity, to the extent permitted by law.

Any limitation of liability will apply only where lawful and reasonable.

12. Privacy and Personal Information

We respect the privacy of our customers.

Personal information collected through our website is processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and our published Privacy Policy.

Information may be used to process orders, arrange delivery, handle customer enquiries, prevent fraud and fulfil legal obligations.

For further information about how personal information is collected, used, stored and shared, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

13. Third-Party Services and Payment Providers

Our website operates using Shopify and may use third-party services to provide secure payments, delivery arrangements and other website functionality.

Payment transactions may be processed by independent payment providers in accordance with their applicable terms and privacy notices.

We are not responsible for independent third-party websites that customers choose to visit through external links, except where responsibility cannot lawfully be excluded.

Your statutory rights in relation to purchases from WASHBOLT remain unaffected.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes in our business operations, website functionality or applicable legal requirements.

The latest version will be published on our website with an updated revision date.

Changes will not retrospectively alter the terms of orders already accepted unless required by law or expressly agreed.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you retain any mandatory legal protections applicable to you, including applicable rights concerning where proceedings may be brought.

If you experience a problem with an order, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve the matter fairly and promptly.

Nothing in these terms prevents a consumer from exercising their statutory rights or pursuing a legal remedy.
